The 12th Wing is one of the main Units of the Air Combat Command (MACOM) of the Spanish Air Force. Its origin dates back to April 1958, with the creation of the Fighter Squadron No. 61 which, depending on the Air Defense Command, began operating with the first combat jet aircraft of the Air Force, the F-86F Saber (C-5, with the callsign “Tennis”). This Unit is the repository of all the tradition inherited from the combat units located at the Torrejón Air Base.
