Sushi is usually prepared in small portions, about bite-sized, and can take a variety of forms. If the fish and rice are served rolled in a sheet of nori seaweed, it is called maki ('roll'). If it is a type of rice meatball covered with fish, we speak of nigiri. When the fish is presented stuffed in a small bag of fried tofu, it is called inari. You can also serve a bowl of sushi rice with pieces of fish and other ingredients on top; so it's called chirashizushi.
