Super-8 is a film format that uses 8 mm wide film. It is an evolution of the Double 8 format, with film of identical width, but whose distribution between impressed area and perforation (as well as the differences in size of both) is different.

It was born designed for the domestic market, although in the hands of amateurs and modest filmmakers it reached a high level. With the arrival of new image recording systems on magnetic tape (what we commonly call video), its use plummeted. But currently it has taken on a new life, among short filmmakers and video artists to obtain a different aesthetic than video.
