The Rubik's cube (or magic cube , as it is known in some countries) is a mechanical puzzle invented by the Hungarian professor Ernö Rubik in 1974. It is a well-known puzzle whose faces are divided into squares of the same color that can be change position. The objective of solving the puzzle is achieved by placing all the squares on each face of the cube with the same color.

It has been estimated that more than 400 million Rubik's cubes or imitations have been sold worldwide. Its simple mechanism surprises both from a mechanical point of view, when studying its interior, and because of the complexity of the combinations that are achieved by rotating its faces. The cube celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2005.
