The origin of poker is the subject of a long debate. There are various and colorful theories about its birth, however, the game as we know it today seems to be a mixture of several games whose general rules are very old and that retain the influence of games from different civilizations and eras. Everything seems to indicate that the origin of playing cards and therefore of poker is found in the Chinese circus around the year 900, as a possible derivation of Chinese dominoes. In the new year of 969, history already reports Emperor Mu Tsung playing “domino cards” with his wife.
