The most common pipe is the one used to smoke tobacco. Tobaccos for pipe smoking receive a treatment that allows them to achieve nuances of flavor not available in other types. Many of the blends use Burley or Virginia tobaccos in various degrees of cure as base ingredients, to which are added more spicy tobaccos or those with a greater intensity or uniqueness of flavor. Among these, the most common are Latakia (a tobacco with an intensely smoky, smoke-cured flavor, originating in Cyprus or Syria), Perique (a very spicy tobacco that is only harvested and made in a small area of Louisiana) or tobaccos Burley and Virginia originating from Africa, India or South America.
