James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix) in Seattle (United States) was an American musician and singer-songwriter. Hendrix is considered one of the best and most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most important musicians of the 20th century. Musically influenced by American rock and roll and electric blues, after having initial success in Europe with his band The Jimi HEndrix Experience, he achieved fame in the United States after a concert in 1967 at the Monterey Pop Festival. He later headlined the Woodstock Festival in 1969, and the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970 before passing away aged 27.
